I've been reading about Ish & Elias and Martens & Velvick on Falcon competing for the same water and it amazes me that on a lake the size of Falcon, +- 83,654 acres, they find the same water within a few feet/yards of each other.

How do they do that? or do they?

I understand seasonal paterns, etc but this is beyond belief unless perhaps they are getting info for others, i.e. GPS coordinates or something.

Do they actually, truly find these spots themselves or ????????

Local help with GPS coordinates or showed them when the lake was not offlimits. Thats why when someone does find something by theirself like Timmy Horton did last year up north they blow out the event.

When you start weeding water..lakes get alot smaller!

You should have seen the BFL on the RED RIVER last weekend!

I shared my backwater lakes with dozens of people...the weekend before I was the only sole around for miles!

It's just another part of tournament fishing!

A buddy of mine guides on Choke Canyon the pros had a tournament last year. I called him up and he said that he was taking a different pro out each day, I know a lot of those guys can fish but sometimes people give them too much credit. Sometimes you don't have to fish that good when someone puts you on a ton of fish. When I was 16 Ron $$$$$$ called me up for a championship on Livingston I told him one spot to fish it was a two day tournamet he blew it out. The only difference was he was nice enough to give me the credit when they intervied him, you think any of those guys would do the same.

It is very possible. I can attest to it on a smaller level. I'll give 2 examples:
1. Lats year at the Media Individual Championship on the Red River at lest 6 of us that fished the Cowtown Division all ended up in the same samll area even though none of us really talked to each other or saw each other in practice there. Some of us roomed together and we were all pretty tight lipped in practice. As big as that place is and to see us all end up in an area was kinda funny.
2. This past February at the Weekend Series on Palestine I had no experience on the lake and found some water I liked i practice. My tournament partner was also fishing the same tournament and we never discussed areas unttil the night before at the motel. Seems we both found the same basic area we were starting in even though again we had never talked about it or saw each other in there.
I think when guys use the same criteria to locating fish its more than likely more than one guy will find them. At that level the pros excel at finding fish. Its probably the biggest thing that separates them from an average angler. All this talk that they all use guides and such is WAY overblown. Some guys get info but I promise you most of it is natural ability.

I think it is like monkey see ,monkey do !!!! When we at Lake Falcon I seen at least 12 boats fish the same off shore structure in three days. It was Alton Jones that I saw first there and then there was somebody on that spot for the next 2 days.

And like Todd said, alot of them get the hot spots before they ever see the lake. And if I was sponsoring somebody I would want to help them all that I could

You got that right. I watched the Elite a couple years ago on Rayburn and I can say one thing...they burn water and move around like no one I have ever seen!

I watched KVD crank up in 1.5' of water and run full pad between boats and cypress trees and come off plane in 2-3' of water not 100 yards away! Blew me away!

I agree that its not that big of a deal to end up on the same spots they were all fishing fairly deep 15 to 30 foot that eliminates 75% of the water. Then if you put 1/2 the field down south and theri only gonna fish a good ledge or a main lake point and you get days to pre fish and you hit atleast 20 spots a day that eliminates a lot of water, and chances are if two maybe three people find one spot and thats their best spot it seems pretty plausible. On the flip side if someone tells you to fish a certain creek cause they say its the best creek on the lake and their a local that still is help I wish I had gotten atleast that much when I fished the stren down there.
