Is there a benefit between the external (500c) vs. internal (502c) GPS antenna? I don't want to mount an external antenna if I don't have to unless there is a reason for it over the internal model, like better signal strength. The boat is a FourWinns fish-n-ski.

I currently have a FishMark 480 at the console and want to move it to the bow. The 50x model would use the existing transducer from the 480 at the console. I was going with the 50x series because I can reuse the existing transom mount transducer and use the new transducer with the 480 on the bow mounted to the trolling motor. It is also a reasonable price (~$449).

Any comments on input?

If it is going to be tilted or in dash mount then you need external antenna.

I also like the External because if you trade up and end up putting the 500c up front someday you can then buy the new one without a GPS and just the old one (tah came with the 500c). And then link the two (500c and whatever the new one will be someday to the same one old GPS).

Its cheaper than buying a new GPS reciever everytime.

I ended up purchasing an Eagle 640c external antenna model. I installed it in the garage and the thing locked on to the satellites with the doors closed. I should be taking it out on Lewisville tomorrow to test it out. I installed my Eagle 480 on the bow using the trolling motor mount.
