I just moved close to Benbrook and want to start fishing that lake but am unfamilar with the hotspots. Anyone want to suggest some spots to try. The other day I went out and launched from the Marina at Rocky Creek, and headed up by the dam. Caught a couple sand bass, but the action was kinda of slow. Looking for Crappie, Sandbass and some people have said the Hybrids are good there. Any advice or locations you could share would be awesome.
Thanks

you can find sandbass right now in the clear fork trinity river, but you cant get there by boat. you would have to park of of hwy 377 in wheatland(aka whiskey flatts). walk the river back towards the lake and fish the deeper pools with a crappie jig on a cork for sandbass.
crappie are being caught at the crappie huse at rocky creek marina and in pretty much any creek or cov in the brush. the best crappie catches are coming out of mustang and bear creeks from what i hear. minnows work best for crappie on benbrook, the jig bite is inconsistant. if you are interested in bass fishing you should come check out the tournaments on thursday nights at rocky creek. you could probaby hook up with a non boater and leanr some things about bass fishing on the lake. benbrook is tough sometimes, but it can be a great lake and learning it will make you a better fisherman.
