Well I was on Fork on Friday and a Bass Cat had a tree sticking through the middle of the boat. The boat was in the mouth of the first cove on the right just North of 515 bridge on the West side. They had removed all of their equipment and were hammering away the boat from around the stump. When I left they were going to try pulling the boat off of the tree with another boat. I do not know if they ever got it off but the boat was still floating just below the rub rail. Goes to show that you need to be very careful on that lake you never know when it could be you.

Oops!!! Sounds like someone was running a little faster than they should have been in an area they didn't know well enough.

Hope nobody was hurt when they hit the snag. I once saw a guy hurt really badly when he did the same thing up in Nebraska. I couldn't belive how fast that boat went from 35mph to zero. The guy went through his windshield and was literally launched about 20 yards ahead of the boat and into the limbs of an old cottonwood tree. Luckily, my buddy and I were around to get to him, pull him into our boat, and get him to a doctor. It Made a real impression on me!!! I've never cranked her up in a wooded area again.

Regards, & good fishin',

It happend thursday night in the mouth of Bobcat. They were not running but ideling out in the 3-4 foot rollers and came down on top of th stump. I do have pictures and will try and load them tonight when I get home. I was on fork the last 10 days and lets just say the wind and waves were nasty for the better part of the trip. Just goes to show even when iddeling you are not safe.

Chad T actually brought those guys from that BassCat into the marina in his Ranger. He called me that night to tell me about the Cat. Said it was amazing no one was injured.

I was out there yesterday. Just before the second storm moved in I was in Williams and since the ramp I used was in Big Mustang I thought I'd better get going. A 17 foot Tracker was no match for the 4' rollers even down wind. I actually was having those thoughts that I hope I don't come down on a stump from the top of one of those rollers. Was glad to get back, only loss was the bottoms of my Frog Toggs that blew out. I didn't even THINK about trying to retrieve them.

Had something similar happen to a buddy of mine while ideling back in Williams,he had an older bass boat and had a small tree stob go completely through his hull. Of course it filled up real quick. I just happen to be cruising by right after it happened and got over help him out. I think they had to take some kind of flotation device under the boat to lift it off. You just never know what's going to happen on Fork.

Wiyh all the timber in Fork, you can really get into trouble very fast! Big waves and timber don't mix well!

Your ranger would have sunk. But then again you don't go out in 3 to 4 footers because your boat can't handle it.
