Is there a limit on how many jug lines you can fish? I know you can't exceed 100 hooks in total equipment. But I think I am confused with Crab traps. You can only have six per person. Thanks Bill

No limit on jugs, just on # of hooks.

Properly placed and baited 12 to 15 jug lines will catch all the fish you need.

Looks like we have a comedian in the group....

Reel, just remember there is a 5 hook max per jug and 100 hooks total including any rod and reels your fishing.

And to comment to albert, I personally WISH there were placement restrictions requiring arrogant and greedy juggers to not interfere with water navigation... Perhaps I could start a secret society to try to quietly get the tp&w to pass the laws without notifying anyone. We could have our special handshake a decoder rings and everything.

I'm an avid jugger and sometimes put out 20-30 jug lines. I do not think we need more laws but would not be against limiting the number of jugs.

Some people are just too greedy or something. I could barely drive up river at Buchanan a few times. This guy must of had his 100 jugs out plus 100 for the kid in the boat with him all in 200 yards of the river.

That's my biggest complaint about juggers, is that SOME on rare occassions forget that they aren't the only ones fishing a lake.

I don't mind the numbers of jugs, 100 hooks is a pretty high limit, but @ 5 per jug thats only 20 jugs.

I typically run 12, but this last round I tried to push it to 18, it's not easy to find locations for 18 jugs.

There is a guy that runs some bleach bottle jugs on RH N of 30, I don't know what type of boat this guy is running but I never see his jugs in locations I could even consider getting to without damage on my CC.

I saw one of his lines the other day that whatever was on the jug was managing to drag most of the bleach bottle under water when it would try to run, must have been an impressive catch.

10 lbs can take a bleach jug under.

I agree with what is said above, some people take it to extremes and cover the lake in jug lines. From my experience that is when people generaly get their lines cut or stolen is when they just completely cover an area with jugs.

i fish 25 jugs at a time. when i set them i run them in a creek mouth on Belton lake. the channel is around 6'-7' in most places. but i run them out of the channel in the 3'-4' water. so if people want to get back in the creek they can do it safe and stay in the deeper water in the channel. and do not have to worry about my jugs. i use a noodle 4" around and 12" long. a 3 lb fish can pull it under but they CANT hold it under.

I just use the jugs that Academy sells for $2.50 each, I like the way they have ears for tieing off to. Put a little sand in them and they do a great job as a flag too.

The only problem I see with them is their size, they aren't much bigger than a 1 ltr bottle, and usually are hard to see when the sun is in your eyes or its rough. I find myself chasing a lot of birds trying to find the jugs. But there's usually one place around them that I can see them clear as day if I get the right angle.

I've been running these for the past month w/ 3oz weight on them and they've been really good until 2 come up missing last weekend. Prior to the past month the last time I run jugs was in 2000 on Texoma for about a month or so, and before that was in 1987 in Iowa. Usually only run jugs when I'm stocking up on food.

I'm in the process of collecting wire coat hangars from my friends so I can make some dixie cup weights to increase the weight a little. Should be running with more weight in a week or so.

MT some body prolly got them jugs ... folks that steal fish will grab a jug that has a fish on it & as soon as they get it in the boat they drive off so as not hang around any longer than they need to & discard the jugline later on at their convenience ... seen it happen

Do you think they will rebait the hooks when they throw them back in the water?

Seriously though, if that happened then great, but I do feel like I should look a little more for them when the winds are calm. Wont hurt too much.

I'm still going to increase the weight a little, can't hurt as long as I can keep it manageable.
