I fished the texas side (patroon bayou/holly park) over the weekend. fished for bass from a boat. used a silver rattle trap. caught several largemouth in the 2 to 3 lb range. seemed that they were on the points

A lot of fish spawning south of the bridge on the texas side all the way to six mile. Senkos and wacky worms will catch plenty of fish too.

Do you need a TX and LA license? I heard you only need a TX...?

Only one or the other ... not both! Either are legally recognized anywhere on the lake!
Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools won't heed it.

Bass are still shallow, rattletraps and senkos are working well. Some people think the bass are starting to move out, but there are still plenty being caught 8' and shallower.
Crappie are moving shallow, I've caught all males in 3' to 5' or so. The males are fanning and I have not caught a female shallow yet.
It's a good time to be here if you are lucky enough to not have wind or a cold front.
Good luck

A group us finally made it through the flood enough to get home. A 5 hour trip took 15 but we did catch fish when we were there. Nothing bigger than a 4 pounder and seen very few eggs in any of them - I was curious if maybe they have already spawned out or not because we seen plenty of fanned out circles in slaughter creek. We were able to catch fish out on the flats by holly park flats on blue fleck power worm and watermelon red flake trick worm. Not a lot fish caught but had fun.
