First a little background info

When I lived in San Antonio I was a vet tech and I worked at both the S.A. Zoo And also worked at Sea World.

Both very fun jobs But they just didnt pay the bills.

Back then I was in my first marriage and had to work 3 jobs just to make ends meet.

After 6 years I had enough and sent her packing.

Now im married to my best friend as some of you guys know that have met me and my wife

The question is Now that she might be in a position to support us I am thinking of possibly returning to school full time and follow my dream of becomeing a marine biologist.

I'm currently a super for a local home building company (pays the bills) and I enjoy it. But its not what I would say I love to do.

I'm 33 and not getting any younger is it to late to go back and start over ??

I'm asking you folks because I value the advice you may have.

There are a lot of other factors etc... and my wife supports me but im just not sure about starting over.

I would highly recommend going for it. 33 years old is way to far from being too late in life. If you are financially stable enough to do it, and have your wife's support, then by all means do it! I never made up my mind what I wanted to do with my life as concerned a job or trade. Now I am 45 and wanting to be a fish/wildlife biologist! If you do not do it you will spend the rest of your life second guessing yourself. Making a good living doing what you love to do? You'd be crazy not to. Good luck and God Bless.

Hawke, I have to fully agree with the other opinions. DO IT!! I was in a similar situation with a job going nowhere when I hit 30. I decided to go back to college when I was 31 and am glad I did. It took me 5 years to finish college because I was working a full time job during the day (and every other weekend) and only going to school at night. I took courses year round and even during the mini-semesters between the fall and spring semesters. It wasn't easy working 50+ hours per week, maintaining household chores, being married, attending class and still finding time for fishing, but it was worth it. It's never too late to chase your dreams...

It's a pretty solid commitment, but it will be worth it. Whether you go to school or not, in 10 years, you'll be 10 years older, and if you're already concerned about it being too late to go back now (its not), in 10 years, that feeling will only be stronger. Do it now, and you'll be glad you did!!

Thanks for all great responses. I guess all thats left is for me to get the finer details worked out so that I dont put me and my wife in a financial bind.

My wifes company pays 90% of her school costs I wish mine did then I could do like her and goto UOP.

The only way I can goto school tho will be to attend traditional classes and use my veterens benifits.

Might be a little contrary advice, but I suggest that you start by taking a couple classes that would transfer towards your degree plan at a local college. Math and English are good to take. This way, you can "try before you buy". You might find out that MB won't work for you or find something else that does. This way you can keep your current job and still be working towards a new career. I approached the same situation you face this way and am glad I did. Gave me alot of focus.

Thats kinda what Ive come to realize TXSPORT I will most likly have to start with some night classes.

I want a new bass boat so I will have to hang onto my current job a little longer

Yea, you can get the general stuff out of the way like english, history, etc... at a junior college, and then transfer those credits to a 4 year school. Save you a lot of money that way.

If your old lady is able to support you, and you don't have to work, more power to ya. I bet school would allow you to fish a lot more than if you were working!
