I fished Amistad last week. Water temperature was mostly in the mid to upper 60’s.
Bass fishing was good for numbers but poor for average size. Habitat with the low water level with lots of rocky habitat produces better habit for smallmouth. I would estimate around 20% of the bass I caught were smallmouth. In the past I could catch 100 largemouth without catching a smallmouth. I caught bass on about everything I tried. I caught most on Senkos, Ned rigs and jerk baits.
Launching a boat at Diablo East is no problem. Black Canyon is unfortunately more than 10 feet out of water. See attached picture.

Lots of fish with no size is a heck of a lot better than no fish of any size.
