What recommendations and suggestions might you make for a 4wd beach/around town rig as well as outfitting it (tires, coatings, etc.)? I had a Ford F150 that I ran down the beach a few times a year for awhile. It was a good truck, but it had a flaw that you normally wouldn't notice. The stance of the truck leaned forward and the top had channels that held condensation. I feel like a few overnighters on the beach caused the channels to start rusting, which I didn't notice in time to deal with. Now I'm leaning to something smaller I can see over the top of, like a 4wd Jeep Cherokee. I've had a couple of those but never ran them down a beach. I've also been looking at Sequoias. Maybe something like the images. Your opinions, comments and suggestions are welcome here. Thanks.

I have two (2) Toyotas that I am about to put up for sale, First is a 1974 FJ40 with 16,000 original miles and a 1987 4/4 PU with 90,000.

PM me if interested.

Thanks

Nice. That 60 looks like it could climb a mountain.

whatever you decide on, you will need to have the underside sprayed or coated to slow the deterioration process.

Side Note: I would also go with a Toyota brand type of vehicle. thumb

what about an ATV that's trailerable or can fit in a truck bed? I recently went with a Ford Maverick FWD because I realized I would rather have better mileage on my daily driver. And I figure if I was out of sight of civilization down the beach that I would rather have a lighter vehicle that was built for that sort of thing. Anyrate, an ATV is on my wishlist currently . . .

Whatever you buy check the frame carefully. Beware of Polaris doesn’t seal frame well and the are rust magnets.

Up until I left TX in '06, I ran a '97 Nissan Pathfinder up and down PINS too many times to count. With some decent ATs, I never got that thing stuck even though it was completely stock. I just recently rebuilt and modded out an 02 pathy to run around in the desert out here in AZ. Its a beast. 1/3 the cost of a 4Runner or Jeep and can go where they go. Wish I could get this thing on the beach. [Linked Image]

Cool looking rig. I did make a purchase. It's a diesel Nissan ProX4. It's heavy, I know, but I think I can work my way around that. I've spent quite a bit of time on PINS. I've never been stuck, but I probably just jinxed myself. It has a 6.5' bed, and I'm trying to figure a way I can make that into some sort of sleeping quarters on the cheap. I won't spend $2500 on a cap just to go beach fishing. They do make a soft top that runs around a thousand though. That might be worth looking into.
