When I first started guiding I was in a 21’ bass boat, really enjoyed it but ran into obstacles when it came to getting in position to catch fish. I then went to a 24’ Excel Bay Pro Elite and have had one for 4 years and love it. Much easier to get around and put my clients in position to catch crappie. Just curious if y’all enjoy crappie fishing out a bass boat or center console more?

I fish out of kayak not a boat, but I'm considering getting one, what's the big difference between the 2?

I fish out of kayak not a boat, but I'm considering getting one, what's the big difference between the 2? CC has more deck space, more storage, usually more livewell space, if it doesn’t have carpet it’s easier to clean, generally more versatile, and if you get a glass one, it handles chop better. Plus if you install a t-top or buy one with a t-top you have somewhere to hide from the sun in the summer. Only thing is you’ll want to buy at or very close to the maximum hp allowed.

BassCat. Like the way it tracks with the troll motor; doesn't blow sideways as easy as most aluminum models. Lots of rod storage.
CCs have more room for 3+ people if 20ft plus. But storage with a regular garage door is a no go; console windshield is too high. If you add the t-top, plan on storing outside or have a very high door to get it inside anything. And plan on driving standing up for a clear view of what's ahead.

CC. Much more comfortable on rough water. A very open fishing platform for multiple people.

CC. 18 ft G3. I enjoyed my Glastron, but the seat was like 6inches off the floor. The G3 is much easier to fish out of..

I had 3 different bass boats from 1988 till 2023, when I got a 21’ Nautic Star. And I guess I like bass boats a little better for getting where I want to go, and casting portion of fishing. I do like certain aspects of the CC though. It’s what I will be using the rest of my fishing days.

Lots of room for electronics, two anglers and troller . In my mid 70's can be a challenge to bend and or maneuver , especially in rough water . Don't know of a bass boat with said features, it doesn't matter as its good to have a choice!

I have owned 4 different bass boats. A few years ago we bought a 23 ft center console and I don't see us ever owning anything else. We have 3 kids. There is so much space. The front deck is huge. I absolutely love everything about it.

I've had several bass boats. Sold my 21' Triton in 2018 and a Ranger 620FS fisherman. I like everything but pulling it down the road. It's like hauling a box trailer down the road but it's alot smaller on the water. Can't get very shallow but handles rough water like a dream and keeps folks dry and safe. I can run the trolling motor and have someone either side of me seated in a millennium seat. Never tried a CC but the height of the console seems like it would limit me some. There's no perfect boat though. Get the one that checks the most boxes and live with it or buy 3, maybe 4 rigs!

Love our 2110 Tidewater, no regrets ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2025/03/full-18300-263511-01_2021_03_134505_img_6100.jpg)

No longer a boat owner - other than a bass buster we leave down at the pond on the ranch - owned a Cajun, Nitro and a couple of stick steers back in the day.
Now I consider myself extremely fortunate in that our son lives on Richland Chambers and bought a Vexus ACX 2210 - first experience with a CC and love it.

Avid 23 Mag/250 SHO. It's so easy to fish out of. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2025/04/full-14819-265711-pxl_20240413_231529170.jpg)

I have run both bass boats and an aluminum CC. I like the CC because it is easier to move around in, can hold more people, and handles more types of fishing. The biggest thing I miss about a bass boat is the speed and storage.
My current boat is an Xpress H20 Bay with a Yamaha 115 SHO. Advantages: Toughness, open, good in rough water, easy to clean, easy to rig, sips fuel. Disadvantages: Slow 43mph loaded, storage is so-so, stock floor sucks need to have EVA or other flooring.
I have had 2 Bass Cats and 1 Champion. Advantages: Fast, storage is better, and it is better in rough water. Disadvantages: Fuel usage, not as tough, rigging can be a PITA.
In short, a good aluminum CC is the better option for most recreational fishing. Xpress has been fantastic for me, and the customer service is second to none.
Do something different, you will be surprised what happens. 2020 Xpress H20B 115 Yamaha SHO

Good points, as one ages, comfort while fishing is a luxury. Biggest electronics with shades and or screens are easy on the eyes.
