My wife and I went out in search of striper this morning at Lake Whitney, found fish but couldn’t get them to bite. After an hour and a half, we went to see if we could find some biting white bass. We found them! Caught and released 160 in just a couple of hours. Lots of doubles and lots of big females full of eggs. These were all caught on the same wind blown point on the main lake in 25 feet of water. Small slabs with a teaser tied above the slab. I did try a MAL lure with some success but the small slabs were the ticket this morning. The one striper guide boat I saw was using live bait, they appeared to be slow but were catching a few. I guess the artificial bite for striper is over, next time I go to Whitney for striper, I’ll bring my shad tank.

Nice fish! A group of us went there a year ago, also looking for stripers. We caught only about 10 legal stripers but caught tons of white bass and stripers the size of the whites.

Nice catch. The keeper size stripers have pretty much been cleaned out of Whitney by all the guides on the lake. To many guides for that small lake. The guides I know left Whitney because of the lack of legal size Stripers. Now they guide for hybrids on Lake Waco. There are still good numbers of whites in Whitney, as you demonstrated.

Very nice. The White Bass has saved many guided trips when Hybids and or Stripes wouldn't bite !

Can we refer you as the Duke of Sand Bass ??

Nice work! thumb. It's a big lake with a lotta resources. And 27 miles of river channel, including both rivers.
