If you have ever fished the discharge at Bastrop, you know that there is a cable going across the concrete discharge canal. This cable has a sign that basically says not to tie off to the cable and not to cast past it. Well, if there is anyone out there has trouble understanding the cable and its sign, they are helping us out. They (probably the power plant) have put two "Keep Out" buoys in front of the cable just in case you're an illiterate.

BTW - I would love to know who has been casting the approximate half mile from the cable to the power plant. You have got to stop.

Be safe,

I noticed that awhile back as well. I've seen a few people go over the cable and walk up the channel and fish it. I've also seen them leave in a Texas Warden boat.
Hopefully this helps keep people honest.

Could that be a possible world record?

I have never seen that. I have seen boats going past the buoys at the intake. Just think of all of that untouched eel grass over there.

Definitely seen boats past the buoys on the intake side! My buddy went way past the buoys once and killed them up along the grass line.

The Sam Gideon power plant has a private park over there.

I was fishing the intake at Fayette one morning and two guys went past the buoys. I told them that it was off limits and they told me to FO. I watched them catch a lot of good bass and i also watched them get their [censored] handed to them by the plant security and the game warden.
