Curious if my Humminbird 998C issues could be battery related? It is connected to a blue top AGM battery that reads good on voltage and has no problems starting the 150 fourstroke. Depth finder shuts down frequently and only message says something to the effect of voltage too high. Battery voltage as tested with a good meter is about 12.5 volts. Depth finder is about 12 years old so probably in need of replacement, but want to deal with that later. Age of the blue top is at least 5 years and could be substantially older.

You sure message doesn't say "low voltage"?

I have always run my Helix units from a separate battery. My Helix 8 would stay on, but my Helix 9 would shut off every time I started my motor. A 50ah wheelchair battery is what I now use.
Waiting on Bob Davis' next selfie

The battery may test good but how about under a load? 12.5 v is not too high..
