When it comes to Lake Somerville's Yegua creek and the whitebass spawning run, you just never know if it's going to happen at all.
This year (2025) is starting with the lake about two feet below normal pool level but appears to be setting up for a good run if we get the rain..

Great video. It’s still a little too early here in North Texas for the run to start.

Y'all get your rod and head to the creek.. Lake Somerville's Nails creek is on the rise and should be filling up with fish as of this posting. Ray and I fished the mouth of Nails creek Wednesday 2-12-2025 just after checking the creek upstream at CR125 and it had a good flow.. 3 hours later Ray checked again and it has risen a whole lot more! This should be it if it's going to happen at all.. The timing is near perfect, a good rise on a full moon.. The Yegua watershed received a good soaking as well but that water takes a day or more to reach the lake. This could be the start!

Been getting good reports from South Central Texas. White Bass are on, water is extremely shallow. We need a lot of RAIN. thumb

Waiting on the weekend creek angler reports.. but I'm not holding my breath! I'm expecting very few whitebass but maybe some good catches of crappie.

Keep the news coming. Miss my old fishing areas out on Somerville. Good to see you are posting still after all these years.

I've not heard one good report on the whitebass from any Lake Somerville creeks.. but the crappie fishing is pretty good.
