A while back, I was fishing close to the dam on Eagle Mountain. A couple of guys pulled up in their boat about 50 yards away and tied to a warning bouy. Obviously against the law so I watched them to see what they were doing. It appeared as though they were dropping some sort of net straight down in about 28’ of water and lifting it back up. They were too far for me to see exactly if they were catching shad but I can’t think of any other thing they were doing. Have y’all heard of catching shad that way? Have you seen a net like that?

You'd have to add a lot of extra weight on it.

I couldn't imagine something like that being effective. I guess they good have been dufuses and dropping a cast net straight down thinking it would open on its own.
