A little farther than 150 miles but you might consider going to Lake Ouachita near Hot Springs and camp on one of the many islands there.

If I'm not mistaken, I think Lake Granbury has some free and temporary overnight camping right on the lake. But it could get busy during warm seasons.

I was thinking that you could camp on an island at the lake. Any lake that has large island..... do they stop that? I'm immediately thinking of Pine Island on Lake Livingston, course that would be a trip to yak out to that island and back.

They dang sure USED to stop it on Cedar Creek. 2am, hammered, my room mate and two gals doing our business when the Sherrif smacks us with the spotlight. "GET OUT NOW"! LOL!
