Country started dying in the 90s when people thought spare azz Garth Brooks was good. He’s the one who started this garbage.

Nashville figured out long ago the formula of hire cheap songwriters on an hourly wage and give them no songwriting royalties + hire hard working charismatic singer + same old tired song structure and three chords then push it on the radio and tour it until it dies.
With Garth, they found someone that could sustain that level of touring tenacity while happily being a monkey puppet singer while also having no desire or ability to write a good song on his own…..the perfect company man.

I agree that country is dead. Rap is not country but they try to pass it off as country. I call it the DEI effect on country music.

I’m at the lease. Called the wife and she was watching the County Music Awards show. Said they all sounded like rappers and pop music and no cowboy hats! She’s like me…classic country is the only ‘country’ music worth listening to.

I'm going to see Jason Boland and Jinks tonight. They both seem to be alive.

I'm going to see Jason Boland and Jinks tonight. They both seem to be alive. That's because they are actually "artists" that create and perform. They write their own songs and in a lot of cases live the songs they write. The bro country singers and groups are manufactured by a label or agency. Singing talent is way down the list. Marketability is their priority.

I played my first tournament in Nashville in the mid 1980's....LOVED Nashville back then.... Broadway was a very, very cool spot... amazing amount of young musical talent... . Cool minor league baseball team... wonderful area, one of my favorites. Been there many, many times, normally once a year. I've witnessed the city change, dramatically. It's still a cool spot, but, it's lost a lot of what made it special IMOP.... Alan Jackson said it best.... https://youtu.be/si-ja75bFvI?si=Uf2Thqn7ku9pGiJ2

The fact that Old Dominion beat out Red Clay Strays proves it is 100% a sham. TRUTH!
