Haven’t named him yet as I wasn’t sure he would stick around or even survive.. it’s been nearly a month since he first showed up.. He hates raccoons and would attack them on sight… one loud hiss and he would chase them out of the yard..I would take off running after him and I don’t know if the raccoons were scared of him or me right on his tail chasing him.. but the raccoons would always run and kitty kat must have thought it was him they were afraid of.. One night one raccoon didn’t run and they both clashed for about two seconds before cat headed for the hills.. damn raccoon had a patch of cat hair in its mouth that looked just like it had a black mustache.. Anyway been watching cat hunt.. hasn’t caught a single bird in many attempts… think maybe he is a loser… he prefers to eat insects over any kind of cat food I’ve tried… then two nights ago he brought a mole he had caught into the house… victory.. then last night he brought in a baby squirrel.. I separated them and closed the door so I could put cat outside as baby squirrel didn’t seem to be injured… Took me 20 minutes chasing that thing around the house before finally trapping him in a coffee cup and releasing it in tree.. These little guys can absolutely fly when cornered.. jumping a couple of feet in any direction they choose in a split second. Tried catching it barehanded at first then I got scared and got a towel.. had squirrels when I was a kid and remembered how painful their bite can be.. squirrel finally was exhausted and crawled into coffee cup it had knocked off desk.. He might just make it..

What has happed to you does not define who you are-
HOW you react to what happens to you DOES!

Is that a flying squirrel ? sure looks like it with those big eyes. I've heard they make good pets. My Step-son found two baby fox squirrels on one of his building jobs, Raised them from eyes-closed babies to full grown. A male and female. The male took off for parts unknow as soon a it was left unattended outside, The female is still around and very tame.

https://texashillcountry.com/flying-squirrels-wild-texas/I think it might have been a flying squirrel... nocturnal, cat caught it at night and its tail was not like a normal squirrel.. flatter read on another link where there are pockets of them in east texas

cat is a good name if you dont think he'll last long
Just want to make folks smile, and spit coffee on their keyboard.
If you put beans in your chili, you don't know beans about chili.
God doesn't create temporary people, you will spend eternity somewhere. Choose wisely.

I have a customer that used to trap them , had a hook up to ship them overseas as pets.
He would build a wooded box , they den together in groups when the weather gets real cold.
He said there were lots of them in East Texas but no one ever sees them. As you said , Nocturnal.
