FFS has definitely killed fishing.

I think the issue is far more about the difficulty of handicapping fishing than the relevance of the sport. I mean people bet on hot dog eating contests!

OK, gambling on bass fishing….New league with new rules, the anglers have zero entry fee and in return they place their own bets on how they will place. If they think they will win, they bet as much as they want. They bet a lot and win, they get a lot of $$. They don’t place a very high bet and win, they don’t get much money.

Is it completely stupid? Works in my head, probably not in the real world.

I'd prefer that the other sports were like fishing. Where the interest is participatory rather than spectator. In which case there would not be betting markets. We idolize athletes way too much.

Some people just like catching. I like fishing.
