I just saw a video on YouTube that said Z Man's patent on the blade attacment is expiring soon. We all know everything you see on YT is accurate . Does anybody know if this is factual?

Queen Tackle was successful in going against it.

It has expired. You can now buy previously JDM-only bladed jigs in the US. Hag’s also has their’s on the market.

They are still in business but the blade is attached with a split ring.

Does anyone other than zman and strike king make a vibrating jig with the blade attached to the jig head? If the patent is done, I would think some would.

Just buy the new XPS branded one and save yourself a ton of money.
This way, I can continue to keep stock of the Jack Hammer as they flat out work.

Z-Man licensed Strike KIng a few years back so they could make the Thunder Cricket. Bass Pro may have also been licensed. Looks like Z-Man acquire another utility patent involving the direct blade to head design in 2016 so it may be a while before it expires. https://www.wired2fish.com/news/z-man-awarded-another-utility-patent

I see Tackle Warehouse has bladed jigs from Hags and Dudley with the blade attached directly to the head. Dudley's looks like the Blakemore Rock n Runner that was one of my all-time favorite bladed jigs until they discontinued them.

Hags just released a new vibrating jig that has the a similar connection to Zman. You can see it really good on the latest What's new at TW video.

I believe the connection patent has expired; but the hexagonal coffin blade patent remains.
