I've been dreading this day since he told me he wanted to do it and to be honest I think I had more fun than the kids did! He's a freshman this year and fished his first tournament on LOP this weekend. I've been busy lately and LOP was off limits the weekend and week before his tourney for me for a crappie tournament this weekend but we did spend 2 weekends there prefishing. I took him for his birthday in late August and we had 2 good days. We went back with his partner and his dad 2 weeks before and had one decent day and one tough day. I let the kids decide what to do and they made the same choices I would have. We fished the main lake and they were able to bring in 5 fish. That was our goal. Ended up in 21st place with 12.26 and while we were on the way home the president of our club called to tell us they won a gift card for their finish! It'll cover the $10 chatterbait he lost!

It was good to see him excited about something besides staring at a phone or playing video games! The no phones for kids rule is great! He fished hard the entire time and I was proud of that. They lost a couple good fish and he broke a monster off at the boat on a drop shot that would have moved them up tremendously but that's fishing! Looking forward to the rest of them and spending some quality time with little man! THSBA seems well organzied and they put 155 kids through the weight in line in pretty short order. Cudos to them!

It sure has! I remember him at Crappie Fest years ago chasing 4 pounders cause they had to be easier to catch than 3 pounders cause everybody is trying to catch them! Not as many people fishing for 4 pounders so I'm gonna fish for them! 5 year old logic!!!
