Hey fly tiers of North Texas, and Denton County! I just wanted to let veterans know about an opportunity to learn how to tie flies - starting from square one - in Denton and Roanoke Texas very soon. I will be teaching the Denton group, and that actually starts 9am October 12, 2024. Below is the flier for the Roanoke group, and that flier is also on my website.
So far I have managed to secure vises from the good people at
RAMBLER ANGLER AND BLADE formerly Wolff Industries, and it looks like LOON will be stepping up with necessary tools to get the ball rolling. Just in case you are a fly tying veteran already, know that Rambler does have military discounts.
This group in Denton has five vises, tools for each and a couple spools of thread for each as well. What I am in need of is materials and hooks - and not a ton of either one - just enough to get started with a classic woolly.
Or cash donations directed to the fly tying program - for purchasing these items. This is the link to the
DENTON County Miliitary Veteran Peer Network Donation website page. In the "Comment" area, write "Fly Tying Program," and 100% of your donation will be properly directed to their needs for this class.
If you are a veteran, and want to join these classes, in either location? Your first step is to reach out to the Military Veteran Peer Network, and tell them you are interested in this. Check out all they have to offer here -
Denton County Military Veteran Peer Network.
I know they would appreciate your donations. I would appreciate them as well! I will keep you updated on the progress of this event, and maybe you can keep an eye on this thread for scheduling updates and news. This information will be on my website as well.
