Never have much cared for fishing clear bluebird skies, but sometimes we have no choice. Weather forecast has sunny skies for 10 straight days, except for Saturday. This, however, is more of a bass issue than sunfish thing. The sunfish will bite under any/all conditions as long as you can find them. Today I fished from just b4 daybreak until 12:30 pm & ended up with 6 bass & 104 sunfish. Time was split evenly fishing for bass & sunnies. All of the bass were caught very early then couldn't buy a bite after that. The sunfish were caught in 2 areas with quite a few good ones today.

Pretty much had the lake to myself today, but all that will be changing soon as the water cools & the bass get going. Water temps ranged from 88 degrees in most areas, to 98 degrees at the discharge. Biggest bass went 5 pounds even & had several red ear in the 9-10 inch range. They were very fat, while the bluegills were very lean. On a side note there is a creature that I have been annoying very early the last few trips. Thought it was a nutria, but now wondering if it could be an otter ? Whenever I get kind of close...it starts "chirping" like crazy...thought it was a bird a month ago, before figuring out it was a mammal...Any thoughts ?

You need to start tagging the fish to see if you are catching the same ones over and over. roflmao

Otters definitely chirp.

Great report and fish. thumb

Thanks Leo & Barry...now I know FCL has Otters. They must me nocturnal because I have never seen one after sunrise...Always about a half hour before the sun comes up. They seem to be in the massive rocks of the dam. Now that I know what they are, would love to get a photo, but that's gonna be tough in just the light of the plant. Barry...About a month ago I caught a bass that went 5 pounds even in the same place, so wouldn't be surprised if it's the same one.

Also...Thanks F4, Yesenia, GT & Chuck...

Nice report Steve and great pictures. I've never seen Otters out there, but they are probably asleep when I'm rolling by LOL.

Zane...The otters are definitely nocturnal...I have never seen or heard one after daybreak, so they are safe from you & Robert for sure... roflmao
