Never thought eel grass could be killed. It survived previous sprays but not this time. You can see a few areas around the lake that overspray killed off shoreline greenery. Reeds are fine.

They closed North Shore a few weeks back to "repave parking" which they did except the launch area. LCRA owns the lake so they can spray with a TPW permit. I've never seen a info release from LCRA on any spaying they've done.

Flip the reeds.

I spoke to a woman at LCRA today. I told her what I have seen and asked her if LCRA has done any spraying of Lake Bastrop. She said she was not aware of any spraying. She said she would talk to some other people at LCRA and also TPWD. I thanked her for her time. About 4:30, this same lady called me back. She said she had spoken to some other LCRA workers and someone at TPWD. She said no one is aware of any spraying of Lake Bastrop. She also said that it had been a very hot summer and maybe the eel grass had died off. I told her that it is hot every summer and I have never seen the eel grass disappear like it has now. I thanked her again.

I have been going to this lake for 15 years. I have seen the eel grass go crazy and I have seen it fall back. I have seen years when different species of vegetation like American pondweed show up. There is still eel grass. I am thoroughly frustrated with the current conditions.

This is the fishing report on TPWD's website.

GOOD. Water slightly stained; 95 degrees. Water visibility is about 2-4 feet. The grass near the drills has completely died off. Square bill crankbaits have been good focusing on transitions around 8-10 feet. Swimbaits and flukes have been good up close to the reeds. Dropshot and Texas rigs are fair. Report Jason Hernandez, Bass Institute of Bastrop. Lake Bastrop is fishing well for bass. Lake Bastrop is fishing well. Frogs or wake baits early over grass is a great presentation right now. Working fast moving baits like shallow and medium crankbaits and spinnerbaits along grass edges is getting some quality bites. Later in the day, work a fluke or Texas rigged soft plastics to finish out the day. Report by Bryan Cotter, Texas Hawgs.

Someone else is saying the same thing I am about the grass, despite what LCRA/TPWD say.

What are the "drills?"

Rayzor

I would gladly take you, but quite honestly, I don't know when I will be going back.
