I got a quartz crystal, about an inch long, that's full of inclusions. Inclusions (other minerals and things stuck in the crystal) aren't uncommon at all in quartz, but these are kind of neat. This is called a three phase inclusion. This little crystal is full of them - probably a dozen or so. This is liquid petroleum, solid bitumen (asphalt), and a methane gas bubble trapped together inside the quartz crystal: ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2023/09/full-18456-197353-2023_09_10_03.50.25_zs_pmax.jpg) Here's a close-up: ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2023/09/full-18456-197354-2023_09_10_03.50.25_zs_pmax_sq.jpg) A different one: ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2023/09/full-18456-197355-a7v00410_psms.jpg) There are a couple of inclusions in this crystal that have a methane bubble that moves freely when it's tilted. It's extremely difficult to see it actually move because of the small scale - I can't easily keep it centered while turning the crystal. I'm going to try to figure out a way to record one moving. I used a microscope calibration slide to get the scale.

I'm not a gemologist, but that's pretty cool!

I don't have a clue what you're talking about, but thanks for sharing. He said there is oil and natural gas stuck inside a clear rock! Pretty cool to look at and pretty cool find!
See you on the lake and have a great day!
