Couple of weekends ago my buddy Brooks and I went out and we found some big fish and caught on jigging spoons . Today we went with live bait. We struggled catching the right size bait but the ones we had produced. Caught 10 smallest 28” and the largest just shy of 33”

. It’s a picky pattern but the big girls are in the trees. Thanks to Fermin for allowing us to use his dock for pics. He’s also on the same pattern. Give him a call

L

I very seldom keep fish however my friend and his wife love them. They kept 2-3 and gave the rest to their neighbor I believe

It is going to take some serious rain before I use the ramp at Buchanan where I was launching before the lake dropped. At least when it comes back I may not have to worry about zebra mussels in my net for a while. Last trip I had a few in the bait tank. My brother lives between Burnet and Inks and took these pics a this week. [Linked Image]

I am interested in the Zebra muscles after this drought also. There are so many dead ones on the shore. Will they come back with a vengeance when the water comes up {if}. Or will they have to start over and it will be a few years? It has killed a bunch.

My understanding is they will have to start over and move back to the shallows. One benefit of fluctuating lake levels. Heat kills them pretty quick

I hope so. Last time out catching bait was tough in an area where I normally have no problems. Guide was blaming zebra mussels for eating all their food. I am not sure about that the mussels are 100% to blame. I think some of it was the lack of water flowing in from the creeks.

Stump Jumper, I hope you and everyone else are cleaning your boat and trailer really good to prevent the spread of Zebra Mussels.
