I have a 2001 Yamaha F80 four stroke that is getting water in the oil. I was told the head gasket needed replacing so I did that but low and behold still getting water in the oil. I can’t believe they wouldn’t have done a pressure test or something to verify it was the head gasket before tearing down to replace. What test needs to be done to pinpoint exactly where the water is coming from? Anything I can do from home to check it out? Thanks in advance.

Has the engine experienced overheat conditions ?
IMO compression tests are not difficult to perform.
