would you buy a cheaper gas grill ($250) knowing that the more expensive ones ($400+) are going to basically last the same time as a cheaper one???

Wife and I are kicking the idea of getting a gas grill for ease of use. We normally use the PK but it takes a while to get the charcoal going and such. With a gas grill we could save time and use it to keep from heating up the house during the summer.

I don't see the need for a stainless grill with 600 sq inches for cooking space with side burners, lights and such for $450 when i can get A 580 sq inch grill with 4 burners for $200

Thoughts???

Life journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved state.
But rather skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "holy carp what a ride!"

Go buy one assembled already for 100 bucks.

They work great and when they wear out I throw it away and get another one.

Go cheap and use it. When the burner rots out, go down to home depot and buy a new burner for 35 bucks. Do this until the body of the grill is totally trashed.

For the most part I agree with you. But I think you can probably split the baby in this one and get the best of both worlds. First off, don’t pay for the name. You can absolutely find equal quality for half the price. There are 3 important features that I wouldn’t want to compromise on.

1. Stainless griddles. Yes this limits you on the cheaper grills, but you can find them. You can even go after market and find one that can drop in.

2. Single side burner. It is great to be able to do stuff like frying bacon or chicken without grease splatters all over the kitchen and smelling up the whole house for the next two days. You’ll never use more than one burner though.

3. Side trays. You always need a place to stack a few pans or utensils as you cook. The larger the space the better. Of course you can supplement this with a table or something, but it sure is nice to have it on the grill.

Also, if there is ever a daytime hail storm, go look for discount model.

There are just two of us at home with all the kids gone, so I bought a CharBroil 2-burner tru-infrared grill. Tru Infrared means that open flame can't hit the meat and is cooked by the heat of the grates, so no flareups. I bought mine about 4-5 years ago at Lowes and it's still working fine. I think CB has a 5-year warranty on the burner on most of their grills.

I've had a Weber Genesis for 19 years, put some GrillGrates on it a few years back. Still cooks great as far as gas grills go.

I have never seen on for 100 bucks, you might find a cheap one for $200 on sale but it will burnout/out in less than a year or two, I used to do this and usually buy Charbroils.

I grill daily and in the summer two times per day, I got a Weber and I am on year 4 with it, I did have to change out the flavor riser bars last month.

I've had the same two-burner Weber for going on 20 years now. Replaced the burners twice and bought some grill grates for it. It's on its third cover. The frame is finally starting to rust through in a few spots, but it still cooks great. I'll buy another Weber at some point. Check craigslist and FB Marketplace. Some great deals out there on barely used grills.

Same here Spirit 330. Just replaced the burners after 5 years. Auto start crapped out long ago. Weber has the parts to fix it..meh.

Keep looking forward. That’s why windshields are larger than rear view mirrors.
