Looking to get a newer 150 HP on my older Skeeter. It was my dad’s boat and there’s a lot of sentimental value but the original motor is becoming too much of a problem every trip. I don’t even really know where to begin looking for a used motor. Curious if anyone on the forum could offer some suggestions or comments on where to look.

Yea just started my search in earnest. Really don’t want to have to bite the bullet and get a different boat. Love dads old boat and it’s in absolutely beautiful shape. Just the motor is now 35 years old and my local boat mechanic says it’s becoming increasingly difficult to find parts. It’s an old Johnson.

You would need to check your coastguard tag on the boat but, if the boat is big enough for a 225 there is a Johnson here on Craigslist. That would work with your existing controls. Johnson 225
