Im new to jig building and having an issue with my white Pro-tech. My other colors are looking really good but the white is very clumpy and I can not get it smooth. I dipped it the same way I have the others. I also have tried heating my heads to different temps but the same results. I have used both a heat gun and a torch but same results.
I am wondering if it is possibly a bad batch or if Im doing something wrong.
Hey there! Welcome to the jig-building world! 🎣👋
Bummer to hear that you're having trouble with the white Pro-Tec paint. It's strange that only white gives you issues while the other colors are working just fine. 🤔
First off, I'd recommend checking out this super helpful guide on
CS Pro-Tec paints. It's got heat times that might help you get that smooth finish you're looking for.
Also, quick question: is the powder clumpy in the jar/container itself, or does it only get clumpy when you apply it to the jig? If the former it's possible it's a bad batch. Try pouring the powder into a zip lock sealed bag and crush it with your hands. Over time powder gets moisture and other particles causing it to clump, and get hard. It's worth it to grab a fresh batch most time.
If not the case, it's likely too little heat and too much powder.
Don't worry, you'll get to the bottom of this in no time!
Keep on jiggin'! 🐟✌️
