Fished Choke Sunday afternoon with my son. The weather was perfect, about 78 degrees with the wind from the NE that started around 8-10 and picked up to 15-20 around 4pm. Water temps ranged from 79-82 and clarity was 1 to maybe 2 feet. We started off around some main lake points south of Calliham and caught a few undersized bass with a couple of keepers mixed in on a light carolina rig with an 8' lizard, a crank bait and jerk bait. The wind blew us off the points so we found some protected areas further south. There was a major mayfly hatch going on and plenty of fish of all kinds were enjoying the free meal. I switched to a 1/2 oz buzz bait and my son switched to a watermelon fluke. He was out catching me about 3-1 but still a lot of undersize fish with a couple of fish in the 3lb range on the buzz bait. The wind died down about 6:30 so we made another move and found a few fish on beds in a small cove but they were tough to catch and not very big so we didn't spend much time on them. The action on the fluke died off so my son put on a watermelon centipede and that was the ticket. He starting smoking me on numbers and started catching some keepers, I kept throwing the buzz bait and a frog looking for a big bite. Made one last move back to the points we started on about 8 pm and finally got my big bite on the buzz bait. Had one in the 7-8lbs range come up and smoked it on the edge of a point in about 2ft of water. She jumped once, dove under the boat and pulled the hook. Ended the day about 9pm with 10 keepers, best 5 in the 13-14 lbs range. Almost every fish was off or near a point in 2-6 ft. Probably 30-35 fish total. If we can get some rain this summer the future looks good for Choke.

Very thorough, thanks Thanks gar, I try to give reports that anyone can replicate and catch a few fish. My dad and I spent a lot of long days on the water back in the day because we had to start from scratch and due to his work we only got to fish together a few times a year. Doesn't always work out, but this pattern should hold up for at least another week or two.
