Does anyone know if the East Fork ramp by the marina is open? I have read that the dock at the one in the campground is not usable along with the dock at Avalon.

Yes, East Fork is open. Haven't been to Avalon in awhile and the dock was unusable at that time. Have fun with all the crazies on the lake this weekend.

I won't be on the lake this weekend. These days I only fish during the week for the most part. The one exception is taking my daughter or son fishing and when I do it is Tawakoni. When I fished on weekends I launched by sunrise and off the lake by noon or earlier.

East Fork doesn't open until 10am. Not really fishermen friendly

Is that the ramp in the campground? The ramp by the marina was 24 hours when it was open. I preferred it over any other ramp on Lavon. Protected and the dock was always usable.

cheers Douglas was correct. I fish Lavon bout 1 a week. Go to Mallard, just go slow down the hill to ramp. Or go a little farther down hwy 78 to Little ridge/ Power plant to launch, much better area.

I use Mallard at times but normally launch at Lavonia. I need to take my boat to Hughes Marine and that is why I was going to launch at East Fork.

Which ramps are good for launching alone? Preferably with a beach or mud bank. But settle for a courtesy dock if out of the wind.

Mallard is out of most winds and has a bank you can beach on until the lake gets 2 feet low or so, then you have to contend with the mud.

You can always beach on the ramp if you have a keel guard.

Are you saying Little Ridge has a courtesy dock?
