Doing some surf fishing next month near Galveston. I want to try and catch some sharks so I'm trying to find a setup around 250 or less for 5-7' sharks. So far I've heard good things about the DAIWA BG 8000 and Penn battle III combo. I've heard of a lot of cases where the rod breaks on the battle 3, however. Any opinions on the reels/rods and suggestions?
Thanks for the help in advance.

The Penn Fierce 3 is on sale right now at Bass Pro. I have the Fierce 2 and it has been pretty much bullet proof in the surf. Landed several sharks in the 4-5 foot range, bull reds, big rays, etc.. As far as rod strength, it has been practically bent in half when my son overtightened the drag. Broke off 60# braid with the butt and tip literally pointing in the same direction. Now I've said it, it's probably jinxed and will snap on a baby hardhead...

I have a twice used Triumph Surf 12' rated 6-12oz that has been in my garage for the last 2+ years collecting dust. The couple times I used it in the northeast, I landed some huge cownosed rays and 2 75lb sharks. Any interest?
