Consider getting the easy on/ off open front type plus the biggest ones ( like the super fat cat) you can find as they are safer and last longer than the small ones. If you are packing in, or under 190#, a smaller one like the Creek Company ($129 plus free shipping during Xmas) is OK with a good PFD.

Look on the Caddis website. Sometimes they have tubes with minor blems. The tube I have been using the last 2 years is one of their blems (one small area has stitching that isn't quite straight) and I got it for $99.

I second looking for only the open front type tube. much easier to enter and exit the tube and they seem to maneuver easier especially in a breeze
more pricey tubes usually are a little larger, carry more weight and sit a little higher in or above the water. These items are preference only and don't keep you from fishing.

and don't forget to purchase some fins because you are dead in the water without them.

Fins are great in water Deeper Than 3-4 ft, because they let you maneuver with both hands completely free, to handle a fishing pole. But they take a while to learn, can tangle in water vegetation / tree branches or be a trip hazard, and don't work in shallow water- because they touch bottom. There are a few float tubes that come with oars, which work in 1' shallow and deeper water (Caddis and Outcast brands) but they tend to be priced higher. A pair of old ping pong paddles with loose/thin bungee tethers, pushed away with arm Strokes at the same time, might be the fastest way to start, for medium distance propulsion. A set of hand paddles will go faster than fins for most people starting out, but they will have to be dropped if you're going to use your hands for fishing. The short distance maneuvering / spins / hovering , and turns used for fishing with both hands can be learned gradually without fins- using just feet. Then it's possible to upgrade to fins once the basic fin Strokes are learned, or an upgrade to oars, or even a drill paddle can be done -as someone progresses..
