Me and my family are planning on going on a vacation to Crystal Beach some time in early June. I've done a little saltwater fishing around Galveston over the years but was interested in trying my hand at flounder gigging. Besides that I will mainly be surf fishing.
So here are my questions: Is flounder gigging legal/even worth it on Crystal Beach or anywhere in the Bolivar Peninsula? What are some tips for surf fishing there in early June? What are some good spots I can try for either?
Any help will be much appreciated. Many thanks.

Flounder are not a gamefish in Texas, so you can gig them. Bag and length limits still apply. I am not very familiar with the Crystal Beach area, so I hope others provide location information. If you are wading, shuffle your feet and consider getting good wading shoes. A barb from a stingray is a bad way to ruin a family vacation.
