I don't eat it often but Brookshire's deli fried chicken is the best around here IMO

I don't deal with the mess or residual odor in the house any more.

But when I was a kid, we would go to Grandma's at Grand Lake Oklahoma. When asked "What do you want for your Birthday" my answer was always Fried Chicken.

Never in my life, did I realize until much later in life, that Grandma had to go out and buy several LIVE chickens, and clean and dress them so her little grandson could have dinner.

Best ever.

I'm glad there are wine drinkers in this world ..... it saves more beer for the rest of us.

Chef John`s fried chicken recipe on YouTube is delicious when at home. That said, the original Gus' is only about 30 mins from me...usually just go there for fried chicken and a forty.

I do my own. Spice rub with tony chacheres, oregano, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper. Let that spice set in for at least 24 hours then add butter milk and soak for at least another 24 hours. Coat it all in flour before frying. I fry mine on 350 in cast iron dutch oven for about 8 minutes a side. I usually just do thighs, because I'm a thigh guy.

My dad hated fried chicken. Guess back in his day if you wanted it, you had to out back and catch one and clean it.

Chicken processing plants are among the worst violators of child labor laws, and often pay below minimum wage. Animal rights abuses are also high in the chicken industry.

Sometimes I wonder why something so delicious has to be so horrible for you.

The fried chicken with gravy and mashed potatoes post has me second guessing my current dietary choices. That sounds so dang good right now.
