Do the white bass run up the river anymore? I was up there last weekend and figured I would see people trolling and fishing for white bass, but didnt see any.

Canyon Lake, like many of the deep, clear Hill Country reservoirs, is both down significantly (~12 feet as of today), and has very minimal flow going through the dam. This means the river is shallow and hardly moving. Moving water in the tributaries is what draws white bass.

This year, Belton, Stillhouse, Georgetown, Buchanan, Canyon, etc. had a very weak "run" of spawning white bass into the tributaries for this reason.

Aside from that, by late April, the spawn is typically over or nearly over at this latitude.
