This past Thursday evening we were on the water and the front blew in around 6pm, taking the winds from South to strong out of the North, and bringing with it some rain. It was a rough ride getting back to Stingaree, but we managed to make it back to the boat lift safely. The fishing was very consistent up and through Thursday evening, and the surface water temps were up in the 70’s, and the fish were actively feeding. On Saturday, the fishing was much tougher for us with the North winds, and most of the water we found was muddied up and surface temps had dropped to 61 degrees. We fished live shrimp and artificials, and both performed about the same, as we battled the wind and cooler temps most of the day. By Sunday afternoon, the weather was beginning to level out and we were able to land some good trout, black drum and lost a couple of bull reds that got the best of us. We fished shorelines close to drains, with shell bottoms and those seemed to hold the most fish for us. Most fish came on the Blue Moon Down South with Chartreuse tail on ¼ oz heads, both with and without a popping cork, and shrimp performed as usual, catching a variety of fish. Mosquitos were not as bad this week, but the Gnats were brutal when we were fishing areas up in the marsh.

If you are looking to get out on the water and beat the crowds, now is the perfect time to make it happen, and as always, we will design a trip around your expectations, and guarantee you will have a great time fishing Galveston Bay.
