Any good gar fishing in the Grapevine area? Any tips appreciated too, I've never had extensive experience with gar other than accidental bites.

Grapevine lake has a great population of them...

The things are thick as thieves sometimes. As the water warms they can found all over but esp. in the backs of creeks/coves.

I have caught several nice ones there on cut bait and even on crankbaits when the water is hot.

I know they are in the Trinity river for sure up there.
I have a video that explains everything you need to know about catching gar.
Happy Hunting!

Lots of gar in the creeks. I have pulled some longnose out that were close to the 50" mark, and there are certainly bigger ones around
