Have been visiting fishtrap park for quite a few years.
This year I noticed somethings vs I have not seen before.

One is it looked like someone was tilling up some of the banks . Not all the banks , just a couple of stretches. No equipment tracks by some which I thought were deer.
I kept fishing until a twilight and the edge of darkness then I high tailed it out on the trail.
A little more than quarter mile from the bridge I heard stirring in the brush and looke west to what was making the noise.
It was a big black wild boar. . Looked full grown bigger than any dog but smaller than something you would see at the state fair. Looked to be alone .. didn't see or hear anything indicating there may be more.
It saw me and scampered off in the opposite direction. I kept on trucking on out of there.

. I'm city folk so all I know is they can be dangerous especially if cornered or with babies.

The second thing is someone is sticking three foot poles a long the edge of some banks. They are made from small straight branches. The ends look cut. Spaced about 3 yards apart. Nothing is attached to them. . no line of anything else attached. Still haven't figured that out

it seems every fish is a hybrid until its landed.

see also is it a hybrid / I think its a hybrid

Yeah .... that "tilling up the banks" is the common damage done by wild hogs. That and eating anything in sight.

Imagine those ruts, out in the middle of your planted field or pasture, or in my case the front yard.

We have GIT to get the wild hog problem under control.

I'm glad there are wine drinkers in this world ..... it saves more beer for the rest of us.

The hog problem could get under control if they wanted it to. People are making a good living guiding and leasing hunts for hogs, so getting rid of them would affect someone's income, so yeah they don't want that. Farmers and ranchers are so afraid someone is going to tear up their property, shoot livestock, or steal from them that they won't anyone near their land to try to help with the problem. Of course they have very good reason to believe so, it's happened all too often. Hogs are absolutely destructive, but they do make good table fare. If hunters could get access to these massive ranches that are holding large populations of pigs, then maybe we could put a dent in them. That'll never happen, so the problem will never end.

If I fished for money.........I'd be broke.

In a world of compromise.....Some don't.

You're right on several fronts. Hunters want to "hunt" hogs for sport. Landowners want to kill hogs, all hogs. We shoot every hog we see and let the buzzards deal with the remains. We have a guy coming out in the nest few weeks to fly our ranch and kill them out of a helicopter. Last time they came they got 75.

Not to come across combative, I have never seen a buzzard feeding on a dead hog! Have seen a bunch on sides of road in Young county as well as around PK.
