Nice fish!

Have been tying "STS", stuff that sinks the last several weeks. Seems I catch more fish on subsurface flies than floating ones.

Bream are my favorite fish to fish for.

Anyone read: Bluegill Fishing and Flies or The Blue Gill Diaries: A Fly Fishing chronicles by Terry & Rozanne Wilson and if so are either one a worth while read?

When fly fishing for bream, do you fish with flies that float or sink or both?

Do you see a difference between small farm ponds, farm/ranch larges lake and large public lakes?

All good information. It's really fun to fish with Betts fancy poppers to catch lots of fish. But, as noted, the bigger fish are usually caught on sinking flies. I often carry 2 rods. One with a popper dropper setup for searching and another with just a sinking fly. I tie Llano bugs on size 8 hooks for the popper and use briminators for the dropper and sinking fly. Some species, like Rios, may be difficult to catch without using a sinking fly only.

The sunfish in ponds are just as big or bigger than those in the lakes and rivers. They take the same flies.

Other sinking flies that work well are rubber legged dragons, squirmy worms and nymphs.

My favorite colored Briminator variants are Olive and Crawfish.
