I have the Active Target and was at Decker Lake yesterday. Hit the water around 8 due to heavy fog. My goal was to try to really dig in on the unit and use it regardless of catching, tyying to understand and compute what I was seeing. Stopped out on a point in 20' of water and saw quite a few what looked to be larger fish. Spot locked and pitched a jig out a few times and bam. I thought I had hooked into a hybrid, but got her to the boat twice but couldn't get her in my hand and she pulled off. Biggest fish I've caught out of that lake was a little over 5. You can never really tell how big they are this time of year until you get em in the boat to see how "fat" or "skinny" they are, but this one looked to be in the 8 pound range. Could have been 7, coulda been 9. I got a close up look at her twice and she was a really nice one but she pulled off on my second try at grabbing her. The question I have is that about two hours later the image on my Active Target would just disappear. I looked at all my settings and they looked correct. Even did the "reset to factory" to try to get the screen image back, but it never came back. Checked the transducer and it was still in the correct position. Any ideas?

AT1 or AT2? The AT2 is (has) a known problem about it going black out, I’m sure lowrance denies it but I’ve read it a lot.
If it’s an AT1, the module might be getting too hot.

Unit is penalizing you for not getting that fish in the boat.

The little blue ",directional" light was on, but no bottom image. No color, no fish. It's an AT1. Didn't check battery voltage but all the other functions on the unit worked...i.e. d ownscan, sidescan, etc

if you are running a transducer on your trolling motor - shut it off when using the AT... I've got a 3-1 on my Ghost and stop the side scan.. it helps.
also - get yourself a net... it'll help prevent the loss of the next bigg'un

AMG on the electronics. Lithiums on TM. I've not had any issues with it until yesterday. Just wondering if this is a common problem. (FYI, I HAVE a net. That lake has never produced anything near that size for me in the past so I didn't think a net was an issue on that lake. My bad.)

All batteries new last year. It's not the battery.

All batteries new last year. It's not the battery. It's likely a voltage issue. So when you ask people that know about this stuff, a general "whats the matter", the easiest and first voltage source is the battery. I was simply trying to help by starting at the first logical point. But seems you know "it's not the battery" so there is one possible cause down. Next possible cause is how your electronics are wired. Good luck and there are some good resources available, just google them

I mentioned it once, but he didn’t address it. Make sure you don’t have life jackets, bags, coats, tackle, etc. up against the module. It gets very hot just by itself and if it gets too hot, it’ll shut down. But, sometimes you just have to restart these computers. I can change to certain screen (360) and then go back to my AT screen and it’ll freeze up every single time, requiring my to restart the whole system.
(Assuming it’s not a voltage issue, which i would hope a 1 year old battery wouldn’t have)

Did you check the power on your NEMA network? You can also try downgrading your HDS s/w to the last release that worked for you if you suspect it's the head... assuming that your on the current s/w...
