After watching the video of Conn catching the Ivie fish and seeing some of the responses (we arent here to discuss that), it made me wonder how often people do intentionally snag fish on FFS.

Should tournaments have rules in place, similar to sight fishing, that say fish caught on A-Rigs have to be hooked in the mouth? FFS IS changing bass fishing and rapidly. Seems like tournaments might need to adapt their rules for FFS as well.

Most tournaments in Texas only allow 2 hooks on a A-rig. So then in my opinion I don’t think snagging is a issue. So I ask this question if your fishing a crank bait and the fish is hooked on the out side of the head or in its side. Are the people saying I snagged it. I have caught a lot of bass outside the mouth on a crank bait that’s because they flash on the bait and get a hook some where besides it’s mouth.

I cannot find anywhere in Texas Team Trail, Bass Champs or Team Trail Outdoors rules that limit the number of hooks to 2 hooks on an A-Rig.

The only trail I can find that limits the number of baits per lure is Media Bass.

Am I missing it somewhere in the rules?

Snagging with LS is next to impossible, most fish would move first. Maybe with a big glide bait/swimbait, it would still be hard though. I do think maybe the “in the mouth” rule might have some merit though.

Never heard of the “only 2 hooks” in a tournament though, but I don’t fish very many tournaments.

Nobody is intentionally snagging fish with FFS.

It would be far easier to get them to bite and hook them in the mouth than to intentionally snag them.

Whether using FFS or not, fish caught on A-Rigs will get hooked in other areas on the body during the fight. I'm betting the far majority of the fish that come in foul hooked with an A-Rig were hooked in the mouth, then fouled hooked during fight, and then hook in the mouth comes out.

IMO an A-Rig would be the last lure you would use to try to intentionally snag a fish. Those wires are gonna make it extremely difficult.

I haven't seen that rule except for Media.

BFL's limit is 3 hooks, 5 wires, and 5 spinners. Dummies can be used on the two non hook wires.

I swear more and more people on here are watching too many Randy Blaukat videos on YouTube and becoming just as whiny as he is.

People are snagging with livescope, people are cheating with livescope, people have an unfair advantage with livescope, Blah Blah Blah

So if I use an A-rig, get a fish the boat and see that it is hooked outside the mouth and I DON'T have FFS will this proposed rule still apply?

If you know anyone who is good enough to snag fish using FFS please state who they are. I have never hired a guide but If one is that good with FFS I would love to go with them to learn how to use the FFS better.

There are some dumb MFers in this forum. Obviously most here that think you can simply go out and snag a bass are sitting at home fishing via this message board or watching Facebook/Youtube and not on the water. If you think you can just use FFS and start snagging bass, I have Ocean front property in Arizona for you.
