Realistically it's not a bad idea. As far as timing goes, you're only 2-3 weeks ahead of schedule of a normal app timing. We had a decent freeze this morning with a heavy frost. First in about a month. With the really warm last few weeks a lot of my lawn green up a lot. It got shocked back to real life last night. Next week is starting to look miserable. Cold and rainy(maybe winter precp). Rain chances going up with every forecast update. Specially if you don't have irrigation, it's not a bad idea to go ahead and get out a 3 month app of Dimension(the no nitrogen one) or a 6 month app of Prodiamine. My target date will be Feb 11th-18th. But again if you don't have irrigation and/or don't want to run it. Pre in the next 2-3 weeks ahead of a really high rain chance isn't a bad idea. Unless the rain forecast it like 2"+. 1/2"-1" would be ideal.

Really good chance of rain on Mon-Tues next week. For those of you that don't have irrigation this is your perfect opportunity to get Pre Emergent out this weekend.

Not much. That is a Urea/Ammonium Sulfate blend. 1lb per 1000 is a little over 0.25lbs of actual Nitrogen per 1000. I'd roll with that. But i wouldn't even think about doing it until maybe mid March depending on temps. Bank on the first week of April.

Here is a great web site to monitor your soil temp's in preparation for pre-emergent application.

I'm sure you've answered this a million times, but which preemergent are you partial to?

I like Prodamine. This product you would broadcast 2.5lbs per 1000sq feet.

If you are spraying Prodiamine 65 WDG, this website below has a calculator that is helpful @ figuring out how much product you need per sq. ft. and yearly rates.

His math is perfect. I do the 6 month rate. Ted. That 2.5lb rate I told you is the 6 month rate on granular.

Good to know and thanks. It appears several brands contain Prodiamine, so I should be good to go. Probably stick with granular rather than liquid.

There are a few. Barricade and Stonewall are probably the most popular. Every brand will contain a different percentage of prodiamine active ingredient. And that will effect your pounds per 1000 rate. So whichever product you go with read the label for the year max per 1000. If it says 6lbs divide that by 2 and thatโ€™s your 6 month rate. The stonewall sold at lowes has the highest active ingredient % Iโ€™ve seen.

Barricade and H2o yesterday.

Think I'm about a week or 2 late due to our weird weather.

Prune rose bushes today.

Atta boy T-Bird. I'm not a soil temp chaser and more date based. But man we had soil temps all over the place this winter. Had some in the 60's in January. Overall, as long as you're out with pre this week into next I think we're good. NWS is foresting an above normal temp trend for the long trend.
