Hello forum, I’ve lived in the Anton lake area for 7 or 8 years now. I’ve always steered clear of canyon lake as it’s just too busy most of the time. I’ve finally thrown in the towel since it seems to be the only Lake within an hour of me that has potential to produce some decent crappie of white bass catches. I’ve been out to the lake several times, mostly to entertain the kids with a tube during the tourist months. Now that the traffic is down I’d like to put some effort into fishing. Any help would be appreciated, most the people I’ve run across are bass fishing. That’s fun and all but I’m looking for a better fish to catch and release into the grease! Open seat(s) also an option.

Canyon lake can be tough to fish, but it has many species. I think people usually catch whites in the creeks though I accidentally caught a few. Bass aren't very big usually and not a ton of them. There are some smallmouth by the dam, but I would release them as they don't stock them.
