I generally hit the Sabine in mid to late February. My log shows last year Feb, 17-19 and it seems like I was in the mid to early stage, and caught a lot of hefty 17-19" fish. Kicker was I also boxed 7 good sized crappie. Any reports about the males starting to migrate or anything else? Maybe I will a call Riverridge tomorrow...Lawton

We always fished the weekend after Valentine's day but pushed our trip back another week this year. Mid-Feb is on the early side of things, we've had a few years where we only caught males that early, but most years we get a good mix of females. A trip in early March pretty much insures mostly females, but also insures a lot of traffic on the river even if the weather is less than ideal.

Looks like this year is shaping up to be similar water conditions. With a few weeks to go that's really just speculation though. I'd like to see it come up 4-5' before our trip but as long as it's not flooding I'll be good.

There is no better White Bass fishing in Texas than the Sabine run. Those females have shoulders.

psycho Looks like we are on the same timeline. Let me know if you want to team up this year. I mostly fish alone, and not by choice. Most of my fishing friends are working men and can't go during the week, or they just got old and no longer want to go....Lawton

Let us know what you find out after talking to River Ridge. Not sure they are running a guide service?

I heard they are not guiding this year. Any info on campground or boat ramp at river ridge?

I, too, heard they cancelled all guide trips, citing health reasons. Don't quote me though as my knowledge comes second hand but from a few different sources.

Our cabin reservations are still good though. Not sure what the status is on making new reservations, a call or email to Jane would be necessary to avoid misinformation.

My father & I went to the Sabine a few years ago and had a blast thanks to the generosity of some folks we met there. We arrived with the worng bait. Some great guys we met let us know that we would need to use crawdads to be successful and then gave us several dozen. We had a blast and caught a ton of fish (thanks to these guys). We didn't make it back last year because I can't find any crawdads around here and am not sure where to get them. Does anyone know where you can purchase live crawdads in the Tyler or East Texas area? [Linked Image]

I caught these on Saturday January 14, 2023 with limited time on the water. Call me crazy, but I drove 360 miles round trip for a few hours of fishing the Sabine. Water was down the day I went, but I was able to use Jane's ramp. Most of these came from one spot. If I had more time, I could have easily caught more.
