I've always been a braid guy but after 25 years I broke down and bought a spool of Big Game 20# today. I'm thinking about getting some 15# as well and I heard Pline is good too. What should I tie on? Should I keep my 50# braid for my large swimbaits?

I use 20# Big Game for spinnerbaits or leader for swimbaits on braid. I'll use #15 for smaller spinnerbaits, topwater and squarebills and traps. I use #12 on most of my other crankbaits.

I use PLine CXX in the green (15lb) for moving baits like a spinnerbait or chatterbait. Stuff is terrible for anything else because of the memory but it is probably the strongest line I've thrown.
They also make a crystal clear but it is nothing like the CXX green.

Big Game 15 for spinner, chatter, buzz type baits, square bills, and top waters(fluorocarbon sinks, no bueno for topwater), 12lbs for diving crankbaits, 20lb for pitching and flipping,

15lb invizx for weightless, and trig plastics, 8lb invizx for spinning reel finesse stuff

See you on the lake and have a great day!

I like McCoys Mean Green better than Big Game. It has less curl and it is strong. I use PLine CXX quite a bit because it is the strongest line I have ever used but you need to look at the diameter of the line and choose it based on that, not the # test rating. It is fairly thick compaired to other lines in the same # test rating.

If you are using braid for big swim baits I would suggest using a thick leader line on it. Straight braid has no stretch and you can snap off a large swim bait if it is tied to straight braid.
Check out Tactical Bassin videos for throwing large swim baits. They use braid to leader on nearly everything they throw. Tactical Bassin has great videos showing a ton of techniques, and always have suggestions for tackle rods and reels to use.

All I ever use is 25 Big Game for flipping. 20lb, 15, and 12. Never use braid, never needed to.

If it was a stupid idea, you can be assured I have already done it

Your line type and size really depends on the presentation and cover. Braid on swimbaits is a g9od way to lose larger swimbaits.
