No matter how tight I make the star the drag still slips with ease. I am sure it is something easy but don't know my way around these reels.

Any ideas on how to fix it?

What I would do is make sure the reel has two wavy washers. Just below the drag handle.

Good question because if you have braid on it with no backing, it will slip.

For sure found out the hard way when I sent a reel into Abu Garcia. Got a nice love note stating that. Man I was embarrassed.

Yep. A lot of “I”’s and “my”’s in that original post, too many to be for a buddy. Hahaha.

+1 seems odd that a brand new reel would have drag issues out of the box
