It's a wave crushing battleship for sure.
Mostly designed by Dave Schlick, he was the man behind most of the mid '90's and later Champ hulls. I believe Ranger snagged the molds after the Genmar implosion and that's their Bahia saltwater models now.
If you find one in good condition, it's a highly sought out model on a lot of places on the coast. If I fished Galveston to Florida, that's what I'd be running for sure.

I don't have a 24' but I do have a 22". It is a 2008, I believe 2009 was the last year they made them. Ranger then started to make the Bahia from the hull design. You can look at a Ranger Bahia and there is hardly and differece. I love mine and it has done everything I have asked it to do, I have fished it from Galvaston to Venice La. and several points in between. If you are going to fish these waters you will be pleased with it. With the 200 Opti it will move along at +/- 55mph at WOT, which I do rarely. Trimed out right it will give you a good dry ride. As Pat said they are a sought out boat. They are big, it is like comparing a sports car to a Buick Roadmaster.

I can't answer your ?s but I have a 2006 Bay Champ 2200. I have done a little research online and from I found there are 3 or 4 hull styles. Mine seems to have a little shallower draft others. They made the Bay Champ in a V hull, a tunnel, and also a Sea Champ. The Sea Champ has a little more freeboard. It took some experimenting to find the correct prop. The previous owner had a 15.25x19 Michigan Wheel Apollo on it. I could not trim all the way with the jack plate set at the correct height. I bought a Tempest Plus 19 and it runs great. I looked at Skeeters, Nautistar, and Champs when I bought mine. They were hard to find and went quickly. I was a little concerned about fishing shallow but I have found out that I can get into the same water I did with my Ranger bass boat. I was loading up on the ramp one day when a Skeeter bay owner backed down. He said "I sure wish I had a Champ". I wanted to get off the ramp so I did not ask him why. Then only thing I would change is the motor. I believe in maxing out the HP but when I was looking I could not find a 22' with a 250.
