I’m a jerkbait junkie and there’s no way I could pick just one. I might change color, size, and depth 20 times in a day. It’s even worse now with livescope, sometimes they eat the most off the wall colors on the planet the best.
I’ll save you a bunch of money, get some a-rigs because when they’re eating a jerkbait the guy throwing the a-rig is going to catch more anyway.

Academy brand jerkbaits.

Anyone spending more than $3.99 on a jerk bait is wasting their money.

megabass 110 , second would be lucky craft pointer .
colors are based on water color and weeds . probably my favorite technique for sure .
cadence also makes a big difference . i've had times where they would only hit it after 20-30 second pauses

They pretty much all catch fish. I like ripping mine through deeper tree tops, I so lose a few.

I’d just rather lose a $3-$4 lure over $15 dollar lures.

Have fished with people that swear by lucky craft and mega bass. Have yet to witness one of those lures outfish the Academy brand. I’ve fished with the more expensive jerkbaits as well, never noticed a difference in the numbers of fish I’ve caught.

I fish jerkbaits a lot, throughout the year.

The academy suspending jerk bait in natural shad is hard to beat.

Retrieve speed and cadence is far more important than brand IMO.

My favorites are the Megabass vision 110 +1 or any of the 6th sense provoke series.

I appreciate your point of view on selection.

What I've seen and experienced. The cheaper lures are done if you cast into rock on the bank. I find a lot of lures. From ~$17+ to the lures in the Wal-Mart 3 pack. The cheap ones have cheap hooks. The diving bill will loosen. The main body will crack.

You can buy lots of Megabass clones. $1 each in lots of 10. Paint it and hooks and it's ready.

My most expensive lure was $15. With $9 each being the average.

Benefit of being a bank fisher. We find the stuff you guys loose.
